Reconnecting. . . . … MATRiX

We’re back in 2020! Reconnecting the Matrix!
“At present, FAD – Digital Art Festival understands that the dynamics of production and enjoyment are emerging, as well as its own ubiquitous, multiple, diverse nature. Our eyes must follow the current dynamics, as well as technical productions must advance without any fear in the time of the industry. However, we have a slightly more arduous and complex mission in this fluid and telematic universe. Thinking about the complexification of the present, rather than producing a naive future *.

THE FAD & A BIENNIAL. Two projects and one path
Since 2015 we propose the FAD group that decided to follow two paths, two proposals, two challenging projects. The first project is the return of an international and bi-annual agenda for technological arts in Brazil. Then, from 2018, Biennial editions of the FAD – Digital Art Festival, called BIENAL DE ARTE DIGITAL, appear with the mission of valuing mainly critical thinking every two years of the digital and technological processes of life and in art. For the format of a biennial focused on technological arts, the design of its structure is up to its means and circuits. The horizontal and shared selection processes typical of technological art and its parallel circuit were maintained, such as the maintenance of the public notice of submission of works and the adhesion of a broad and unrestricted curatorial council with academics, artists, curators, cultural producers and sector technicians with future possibilities for proposing parallel and independent curatorships. The biennial is now going to its 2nd edition in 2020 with the co-realization of Oi Futuro in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

FAD and MATRiX
With the first Biennial conceived by the FAD in 2018 and its second edition in 2020, it becomes a body of its own. In the second project and path, FAD – Digital Art Festival reconnects itself to MATRIX, to the nucleus that has always defined it as an art and technology festival focused on emerging actions and more dynamic propositions, following the unfolding of our society in its time technological, industrial and informational. Since its planning in 2015, the festival starts to operate more freely, adhering to annual models in various formats such as exhibitions, special editions, meetings, forums and multiple exhibitions in different formats and co-realizations with partner festivals, in addition to proposing actions dynamic and more impactful. The Festival maintains the city of Belo Horizonte as a base, but we also started integrates a special program of yet another internationalization action, now focusing on the South American network of art, science and technology initiatives and actions, giving voice to a unique narrative of the Southern Cone together with partners from Argentina Chile, Peru, Colombia, Uruguay mainly. The formation of audiences and the production of information, criticism, and knowledge for a new generation of “Born Digital” remains our matrix. We are programming the Matrix!
